Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined 2017 bringing so many long distance floral adventures - first Washington DC and 3 months later, North to Alaska! I had the great pleasure of meeting Beth Van Sandt and Kurt Weichhand, owners of Scenic Place Peonies in Homer Alaska , while working on the First Ladies Luncheon in Washington in May. After hearing about their July field to vase dinner, I was so excited to have the perfect reason to visit and work as a volunteer on their farm. For three flower filled days I worked alongside Beth and Kurt, their amazing flower farm team, Debra Prinzing (read her American flowers week post here ) and Kelly Shore (fellow chapel designer) in peony paradise. The amazing food and fellowship offered by this couple on their beautiful property will never be forgotten. And the flowers- the most beautiful varieties and all as big as my open palm and face... well a picture is worth a thousand words...
We were so thrilled to have this editorial featured in Florist Review magazine with a lovely article by Debra Prinzing. It was an honor to represent southern style florals along with so many other talented southern floral designers. We have a rich history and southern style. Still pinching myself and in awe of the images Haley captured.
